I have never been to the Scottish highlands, therefore I started my project with a mind map as a starting point of my research, I was most interested in looking at the landscape, because of the roughness. The highlands are a place that constantly surprises you. For my project I took the inspiration of the contrast of the softness and hardness of the Scottish highlands. The rocks emerging from the water and the land, in combination with the soft marks from the highland cows. I wanted to create this roughness and softness in my jumper designs, therefore I worked with tuck stitches, fair isle and the front and back of the fabric to create a jumper that is contemporary yet timeless.
